Why do we say a Cat has 9(Nine) lives?
The saying began in ancient Egypt, where cats were worshiped. When they died they were often embalmed and buried with riches. Since the major gods of Egypt formed a trinity, 3 was a sacred number. Therefore, the multiplication of 3x3 is 9, was the highest expression of honor that Egyptians could give to the cat. Because cats have fallen from heights without being hurt, the saying 'a cat has nine lives' has lasted though the centuries.
